About Us

The Upper Plenty Action Group Incorporation (UPAGI) formed in response to ongoing poor air quality, fecal and rotting odours over Plenty, and concern for permanent damage to the Derwent River and its Tributaries.

In 2020 the EPA served two Environmental Protection Notices (EPN10519 & EPN10535) alleging for pollutants from a composting and waste storage facility in Plenty entered into a nearby waterway where with spilling waste material into the Plenty River, causing a fish kill.

The EPA served other Environmental Protection Notice (11153/1) in April 2022 for “activities that has not complied with the General Environmental Duty.”

Today, UPAGI are still advocating for transparency around organic waste in the Upper Plenty area.

The group has multiple projects to promote wellbeing in the community, and beyond.

Our mission statement is to advocate for the health and wellbeing of the Upper Plenty, surrounding environment and community.
